Pastor Ken Reporting – October 4, 2017

I woke up Monday morning to the terrible news of the shooting in Las Vegas. The news was especially discordant coming out of an amazing weekend where Nashville Adventist Churches united in a wonderful display of love and purpose. It was a strong reminder of how important our Imagine Nashville movement is. While the Bible is plain that things will only continue to get worse in this world, the Good News is that we have a message that can prepare hearts for Jesus return.

You do not want to miss our upcoming Fall Social at Paradise Ranch on October 14! It starts with music on the lawn at 2:30 pm and then your kids (and you) won’t want to miss the “Created Creatures” animal show at 3:30 pm. At 5 pm Jonathan and Emily Martin will have a concert entitled, “The Word in Worship.” The concert will be followed by a free dinner at 6 p.m. Bring your family, bring your friends, bring your neighbors, it’s going to be a great time together as a church family!

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)

Be not afraid. Fear not. These are oft repeated phrases in the Bible. The reason is because when we witness events like what happened in Las Vegas, natural disasters, and the pain all around us we are tempted to think the world is out of control. The truth is, the world is out of control. However, Jesus is still in control of the lives of His followers. For those of us who put our faith in Jesus there is nothing to fear. 1 John 4:18 tells me that love casts out fear. I know Jesus loves me. That doesn’t mean nothing bad will ever happen to me. It simply means that Jesus will be right beside me whatever comes my way. And since the One who loves me is with me, I am not afraid.

Don’t forget to live our mission statement to love God, love people, and serve the world!

God’s blessings,

Ken Wetmore
