Pastor Ken Reporting – February 15, 2018

I hope you had a great Valentine’s Day! Rachelle and I are headed out of town for a little getaway this weekend, God willing. It is hard to find the space for time alone but it is so important. I hope you are making the time for the ones you love.
(If you don’t read anything else, read this)
This Sabbath is Celebrate Recovery Sabbath at Madison Campus. As Christians we often are slow to admit our brokeness. The fact is, most of us, are broken in some way or other. Celebrate Recovery is not just for “those people” (i.e. drug addicts, alcoholics, etc). As you will discover in the main feature this Sabbath, it is for anyone with habits, hang-ups, or hurts. I encourage you to attend church this Sabbath and not view it as “those people’s Sabbath.” Instead, ask yourself what God needs to heal and transform in you. You may be surprised that Celebrate Recovery on Monday’s at 6:30 pm is just what you need!

On February 17  from 6-8 pm celebrate  Valentines Day by spending an evening  of music  provided by Judson Jazz along with a tasty spaghetti dinner at the Madison   Campus Elementary gym. This is a great way to relax with family and friends while supporting Celebrate Recovery, Bags of Love and other outreach ministries. What a fun way to love God, love people and serve the world! Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children, or $35 for a family.
Praise God for the two people who volunteered last week but we still need volunteers to deliver Bible studies to families in our area who have filled out Bible study interest cards. So far we have 25 interests. It isn’t complicated. You simply go with another person and hand the Bible study to the family and begin developing a relationship with them. If you feel like a little training would be helpful we have that covered. John Bradshaw from It Is Written will be doing a wonderful Friday evening and Sabbath training program on February 23 & 24 at Hillcrest Seventh-day Adventist Church. If you are interested in delivering the Bible studies, would like to attend the training, or want more information please email me at
We will be having a church social at Hendersonville Strike and Spare, February 24, from 7-9 pm. The address is 90 Volunteer Dr., Hendersonville.  The cost is $10 for 2 games & shoes. You can pay Jennifer at the event. Reserve your spot by Feb. 19, by contacting Jennifer Taylor at or text 615-498-3973.
Madison Campus Elementary is having a day for perspective students to visit on Tuesday, February 27. Students in grades 1 to 7 can shadow from 8 to 11 am and see what the school is like. PreK and Kindergarten will have a discovery day from 5:30 to 7 pm. To RSVP call MCE at (615) 865-4575 or click here.
We are happy to announce that, with approval from the church, Kalandra Williams is our new VBS Leader! She is already putting together a team. We look forward to an amazing 2018 VBS!

A men’s 12 step study group is meeting on Wednesday’s at 6:30 at the church.  This is for anyone facing hurts, habits or hangups that they would like to work on.  This is for anyone experiencing anxiety, stress, decreased ability to cope with life, etc.  This group will be open for men to check it out for the next 4 weeks or so.  You do not have to attend Celebrate Recovery on Monday evenings to participate in this group.  We encourage you to check out the healing that can take place as you work through these 12 steps and their biblical comparisons.
Need someone to transport several boxes of Adventist World Radio materials to the Chattanooga/Collegedale area.  Contact Jim Culpepper at 615-415-1925
The pastoral staff and elders would like to invite the entire church to read through the entire Bible together in 2018. If you have never read through the entire Bible this is a great opportunity to discover how easy it is to do and the huge blessings that come from reading the Bible consistently. We are using a Bible reading plan called, “Let’s Read the Bible Together.” The easiest way is to go to our new church app and chose the plan in the Bible reading plan section. Another option is to download from the app store the Youversion Bible app and then search for the “Let’s Read the Bible Together” reading plan, or you can just click on this link. If you would prefer a hard copy of the reading plan look for the bright yellow piece of paper at the kiosks in the church lobbies.
If you are wanting to improve, develop, and further enrich your skills as a leader you are invited to come join us on Sunday, March 18 at the Madison Campus Church. This is a one-day leadership training event for men and women in any capacity of leadership. The guest presenter is Dave Ferguson, the lead pastor at the Collegedale Adventist Church. For more information and to register go to or call (615) 859-1391.
Camp Meeting reservation forms are on the kiosk in the Sanctuary foyer.  The Conference office will start taking reservations beginning March 1.

Usually I will give you a Bible verse and a short devotional thought in this space. This time, however, I would like to share with you a sermon that I heard at our pastors’ retreat. I hope it blesses you as much as it blessed me.
Remember to live our mission. Love God. Love people. Serve the world.

God’s blessings,

Pastor Ken
